Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
Many magazines publish lists, ranking best and worst and most improved, but Forbes alone can claim its readership is on the list. Each year, the magazine names the richest people and the biggest companies, and those very folks subscribe to this nervy and sly business pub. Forbes covers global business stories with insight, solid sourcing, and the sort of groupie zeal usually reserved for fanzines. No merger, new ad campaign, or lawsuit goes unnoticed and stories always focus on the movers who are shaking things up. Read Forbes to make sense of today's volatile market--or just for the sheer pleasure of reading good reporting. --Edith Sorenson

5 out of 5 stars Superb   January 7, 2009
Christopher J. Ronk (Cambridge, MA)
Great articles that keep you up to date on what is going on globally. There are plenty of pieces on topics that you will not hear about in the WSJ or CNBC. Do keep in mind that Forbes is temporally minded. If you think it will take you a while to get to reading each issue, it may not be as useful.

5 out of 5 stars Reliable so far   December 17, 2008
PrayingMantis (Redwood City, CA)
I just received the first copy of my subscription made through amazon. So far so good -- the first copy came within around 4 weeks from the subscription date. Only concern is that they have sent me 2 forbes magazines which i hadn't requested (forbes life and forbes investment guide, both for the current month) . Hopefully they don't count this to the total number of issues!

5 out of 5 stars Not As Good As It Used to Be -- Still the Best   November 28, 2008
Randy Given (Manchester, CT USA)
I agree that it's not as good as it used to be, but it's still the best. It seems that there has been an across-the-board change toward the 30-second sound bites. You only see some of that in Forbes, but it's annoying. If I want that, I can go online to any of the major news networks.

Forbes still has the best financial and business analysis for the U.S. The Economist might edge it out on international issues, but that's not an apples-to-apples comparison. It beats Business Week and the other domestic rags.

The only complaint is the number of multi-page ads in the middle of the story and it being hard to see where the ad ends and the story continues. That may be by design, but it's annoying.

Another good thing about Forbes is that it's written well. It's like the Atlantic for the business world. I currently subscribe to both and have subscribed, at one time or another, to the other magazines that I've mentioned as well.

1 out of 5 stars Another billionaire ranking? Where's the business news?!?   October 7, 2008
Chicken Lips (Albuquerque, NM USA)

Forbes has some problems:
1. each issue features yet more conservative opinions promoting trickle down theory. If you want to read articles written by Steve Forbes complaining about having to pay taxes, this is for you!
2. after the Steve Forbes commentary, you find yet another billionaire or celebrity salary ranking. If you like to brown nose rich people, this is for you!

There is very little investment or actual business advice. Don't even waste your time or money on this magazine, it serves no practical purpose.

5 out of 5 stars Replaced Fortune with Forbes   February 11, 2008

After subscribing to Fortune for years, I now only read Forbes. While Fortune offered great articles, most were very wordy. With little time to devote to reading, Forbes articles are to the point, well written, and offer a similar content (read take-away) as Fortune. If time were not a factor, I would read both. Forbes provides a different "flavor" than the other periodicals available.
